WYVERNSMITHS OPERATES INDEPENDENTLY OF BIFROST...
It was founded, and is still managed by Inger Marie Hognestad, who is an Elfwood writer and a member of Bifrost.
We believe that Bifrost writers will enjoy participating in WyvernSmiths, in addition to their membership in Bifrost. If you are a Bifrost writer, you may enjoy our community and projects... and you'll receive feedback on your work.
However... we have to deal with the fact, that it takes longer for someone to read a story and give a proper critique (than it does for someone to view and critique an artwork). So... you may not always get as much feedback as you'd like. That's why we're happy to provide information about WyvernSmiths, on our website!

WYVERNSMITHS IS NO ELITE GROUP...
At WyvernSmiths, the level of writing skill, editorial skill and ambition varies quite a bit, and the best writer is not necessarily the best critic.
Giving constructive criticism is an art and you will improve with practice. Participating in WyvernSmiths will help you develop an eye for spotting both the positive aspects and potential problems in the works you critique. You will begin to learn to watch for those positive and negative aspects in your own work and you will be a better writer for it!

TO PARTICIPATE IN WYVERNSMITHS...
You must join their Yahoo!Group, at the link provided below, and be willing to offer two decent critiques, every week you ask for critiques on one of your own stories.
WyvernSmiths has set up a weekly "Criticism Plan" that is based on an "Active" and an "Inactive" list of members, which allows you to participate as much...or as little, as you like.

TO BE ON THE "ACTIVE" LIST...
You must submit a request for a crit on one of your works, by adding your request to the "Active" list for that week. Then, you will receive 2 critiques and you must be willing to give 2 critiques on the works of the other members on the "Active" list for that same week.

TO BE ON THE "INACTIVE" LIST...
When you are not looking to give or receive a crit...you must take your info off the "Active" list and join the pool of "Inactive" members.

DEAD-WEIGHT IS NOT TOLERATED...
That's why they have the "Inactive" list, as they want to keep their forum worth the effort for their "Active" members.
Writers, who give only cursory attention to the critiques they are asked for, will quite likely see the quality of the critiques they receive dwindle proportionally, but they won't be booted.
However, if a member repeatedly fails to meet the minimum obligation of providing at least 2 crits each week they are on the "Active" list...their membership will be revoked.
